Accommodation/Camping
Some of our t
ours are camping, some accommodated in either hostels, farmstays or sheep Stations and some a mixture of both. We use accommodation on all of our south west tours and on all tours as far as Exmouth. Once past Exmouth we camp. Campsites can vary a great deal in services provided and amenities. In the itineraries for each tour is a legend marking the type of accommodation used on that night. Facilities available in each are as follows;
BC - Bush camp - No facilities whatsoever except what we carry on the vehicle.
C - Campsite - Designated campsite that has a pit toilet and water.
CP - Caravan Park - Showers, toilets and washing facilities.
H - Hostel - Shared dorm accommodation. All facilities available.
FS - Farmstay - Accommodation varies. All facilities available
SS - Sheep or Cattle Station - Twin accommodation. All facilities.
On tours where hostels are used single or twin upgrades are available at extra cost, subject to availability.
On the 4WD Perth to Alice Springs tour we camp under the stars in an authentic Aussie swag – a mattress and sleeping bag enclosed in a canvas bag. On all other camping tours (ie. between Exmouth & Broome and Broome & Darwin) we use two man tents with mattresses and sleeping bags. Of course you can request a tent on the Alice Springs tour if you wish!
Sleeping bags are required on all camping tours and are recommended on some of the accommodated tours. We recommend that you bring you own sleeping bag although we can provide them for a small hiring fee of AU$15. There is no substitute for your own bed and the same is true of a sleeping bag if you have one. You may also wish to bring a small pillow. All other camping equipment is provided.
