The Pinnacles

In the Pinnacles Desert, right in the heart of Nambung National Park, thousands of huge limestone pillars rise out of a stark landscape of yellow sand. In places they reach up to three and a half metres tall. Some are jagged, sharp-edged columns, rising to a point; while others resemble tombstones.

The best time to see the Pinnacles is from August to October, as the days are mild and wildflowers start to bloom. The pinnacle formations are best viewed in the early morning or late afternoon as the play of light brings out the colours. Most wild life in the park are nocturnal, although emus and kangaroos can be seen during the day, most commonly in the evening or early morning.

WesternXposure provides a 1 day 4WD tour to the pinnacles in Western Australia.

Departing Perth daily we drive directly to Yanchep National Park where we have the opportunity to see koalas and other Australian native wildlife up close and personal.  We then head north to Cervantes, a small fishing village, stopping en route to a profusion of wildflowers (in season). After lunch we continue on to view the captivating, mysterious expanse of the Pinnacles with ample time to wander through the limestone spires located in Nambung National Park.  Should the weather not be conducive to walking through the Pinnacles our vehicles are able to drive through the spires, unlike the large coaches that must remain outside the park.
