Uluru Tours
Alice Springs, nestled between the MacDonnell Ranges in the heart of Australia, is Australia's most famous outback town. Situated 462km from Ayers Rock (Uluru is it's now well accepted aboriginal name) and positioned between the East and West MacDonnell Ranges, Alice Springs makes both a great touring base and a great holiday destination.
Uluru is one of Australia's most recognisable icons. The world-renowned sandstone formation stands 348m high at 863m above sea level (although most of its bulk is below the ground), it measures a massive 9.4km in circumference. Uluru is notable for appearing to change colour at different times of the day and year, with sunset a particularly remarkable sight when it briefly glows red.
There is plenty to do so you should plan to spend at least a couple of days in Alice, in addition to Uluru.
As a part of our 4WD Perth to Alice Springs wilderness tour, we give you the opportunity to climb Uluru (Ayers Rock) before the heat of the day sets in. For anyone not wanting to climb the Rock there is also plenty of time to seek out and explore the artwork and culture around the base of the Rock.
